Leapfin’s virtual sandbox allows you to build and edit accounting and enrichment rules in a secure and controlled environment, without impacting your live production data. When you finish your rule updates, you can test them against your live data and then merge them into production. Creating and editing rules in the virtual sandbox enhances compliance, control, and security, ensuring that your rule-building process is safer and more efficient. ***Note: ***Currently, the virtual sandbox is only available for creating and editing rules.

**To use the virtual sandbox for rule creation and editing:**

1. Navigate to the **Accounting Rules** or **Data Enrichment Rules** page.
2. Enable the **Sandbox** toggle at the top of the page. If you do not enable this toggle, you will not be able to create or edit rules.

3. [Complete your rule additions and changes](https://leapfin.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PD/pages/142114937) as needed. After each rule addition or change, click **SAVE IN SANDBOX**. You can save as many rules in the virtual sandbox as you need. Rules you save in the virtual sandbox will not impact your live data until merged into production.

4. When you have completed and saved all rule updates, click **+ Merge changes to production** next to the **Sandbox** toggle.*** ***

5. Review the differences between the rules in your production environment and your saved sandbox additions/changes. The left column indicates in red which data your sandbox changes will impact in your production rules. The right column displays the actual changes that will be made when you merge. For example, if you change your rule’s name, the difference is displayed as follows:

6. When you are satisfied with the changes, click **Merge to Production** to publish your sandbox updates. ***Note: ***Leapfin highly recommends testing your rule changes before merging to production.
